Trying diverse techniques, working with diferent brushes, papers and ink and most important letting the hazard playing with the composition. The result? A strange and unique texture in between mineral and vegetal. Who knows? In 3 words: I LOVE IT.

This series I call "capillary", because here I exploited the remarkable phenomenon of capillary attraction. This demonstrates the effects of using a soft brush and varying degrees of pressure to encourage Indian ink to disperse in sandwich with diverse kinds of Japanese papers, tissue or transparent foil. These works will remain absolutely unique, since there is an element of hazard. The intricately fine detail is best appreciated at a close distance.

Marc Montméat (Winner of Paris Photo 2009) is an emerging talent taking his place in the top Art photographers.
It's not difficult to understand why.
His vision is always disturbing, showing simple ideas with simple point of view. Evident?
When I look to "la croisée des chemins" my impression is, what does Marc exactly means. Until my focus goes to the center of the photo and I see the man just at the cross of the road.
That's it, that's Marc Montméat !
This photo indeed is not a "instant shot". I suppose that it tools a long preparation to get this result. But who cares?

Alain Bellone takes so much freedom with his camera as a painter with his brush. It is not a question either "effects of car lights", or of " light painting "and some computer manipulations ! Everything takes place in the shooting. The idea being to join the plastic arts, Alain Bellone frees himself from conventional rules of the photography. Digital technique meets pointillism. Essentially, the digital tool is used by Oliver to demonstrates that the pointillism, intensively used by Seurat (i.e. La grande Jette), is still living. Here the pixelate technique is carefully used to give to the image this "pointillism" touch of Seurat.

The reference to Seurat in particular, outside "pointillism", is difficult to find. Olivier is definitively not an impressionist and its color palette far away from the pastels of Seurat.
Anyway, the most important is the demonstration that the Digital Tools are used to produce artworks of high quality level.

Too many peoples still believe that digital tools are just toys usd by amateur that pretends to be "artists".

Technology meets arts - Fractals

The term “Fractal” was coined by Benoit Mandelbrot (a French mathematician) in 1975 when he was working since 1952 at the IBM research center.

Mandelbrot is not the only mathematician having worked in specific fields of Chaos Theory, Dynamic System and Fractal Geometry.

For instance, Iterated functions in the complex plane were investigated in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by Henri Poincaré, Felix Klein, Pierre Fatou and Gaston Julia.

However, without the aid of modern computer graphics, they lacked the means to visualize the beauty of many of the objects that they had discovered.

It is quite unusual that simple mathematic functions visualized using computer programs generates so incredible images as demonstrated in the following movie, knowing that the mathematical formula in itself is as simple as that:

x_n+1= x_n² + c (where x is in the Complex Set)

Fractals and Arts

Fractal patterns have been found in the paintings of American artist Jackson Pollock. While Pollock's paintings appear to be composed of chaotic dripping and splattering, computer analysis has found fractal patterns in his work.see: Fractal expressionism

Fractals are also prevalent in African art and architecture. Circular houses appear in circles of circles, rectangular houses in rectangles of rectangles, and so on. Such scaling patterns can also be found in African textiles, sculpture, and even cornrow hairstyles TO LEARN MORE: RECOMMENDED VIDEO

This photo with "hypersaturation" is part of a technique issued from the digital camera. Historians relate "hypersaturation" to the "mass media culture" generation. Maybe. The point is that this technique can be used quite easily by amateurs using tools like photoshop. Here, Gerard Frances is far beyond amateurism. Hypersaturation creates abstraction and hides the underlying reality of the orginal photo creating in turn curiosity. We like it or not. Up to your judgement.

The weekly topic of “Technology meets art” is quite… unusual. Ferrofluid technology is extremely advanced: nanoscale ferromagnetics in synthetic oil controlled by magnetic field.

The installation "Morpho Towers -- Two Standing Spirals" (2007) was developed by the Japanese artist Sachiko Kodama in her project on “dynamic movement of the fluid”.

This project is considered as one of the most innovative “digital art” experimentation. She received several awards.

Sachiko Kodama is currently an associate professor at University of Electro-Communications in Tokyo.

From my own perspective, new technologies, such as Ferrofluids,, give to the digital art a new dimension and open unlimited doors to creativity and beauty.

Technology meets art

After reading the article “The digital tools for the Artists”, I started exploring what other types of art was relying on technology. I found on YouTube this clip:

First question indeed, is this really art?

My response: definitively. Transient and ephemera, immaterial. Technology here is helping the artist in a simple way: large device and projection system. Again, the use of a simple technology in the hand of an artist becomes a powerful tool of expression.

I will continue to look around and find other technology that artists use to create new way of expressions.

The 2006 Salon exhibition of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts taking place at the Louvre celebrates the spirit of visual artists from all areas of the globe working and creating, all striving to express their visions, their cultures, and ideas. These artists, often independent, free of adherence to an elite, often decadent museum gallery system, deserve credit for perservering in their chosen craft. Visual art is an anomaly in today’s world. Making things by hand, searching for beauty or meaning, is both the most ancient and the most modern revolutionary act. This Salon exhibition of the work of hundreds of artists becomes an apotheosis of the human spirit that challenging the violence, nihilism, commercialization, and the repressive ideologies of our time. Yet as always, when nations, borders, international relations are concerned, the issues become complex and reach beyond the realm of art. Ideally art should stand on its own, free from intrigue or political considerations; however we are not only individuals, but also belong to groups, are citizens. We are citizens. Its concept is to become the professional online guide for the young unknown artists and mid-carrer artists whose art has been rarely or never shown on the world wide web. The target public is the Grand Region and European Union in a 1st step by focussing especially on the upcoming cultural efforts in the new EU Member States. Nevertheless we directlly include a small international section which is planned to develop into a worldwide network (US, Japan...). Hereby CI has a very concrete and measurable vision: the success of each artist to show and sell his art on the worldwide web by getting contact to european- and worldwide customers / galleries and selling in the traditional way or via Internet (by e-selling his work on the "Gate C Online Market". As in the new EU Member States a lot of new cultural initiatives happen, we see especially here a big need of these artists to get all possibilities to competition through the newest technology.

CULTUREINSIDE engages intercultural dialogue at the intersection of the art interested and art community. This means it offers cultural news, information, critics and forums to the public to come in contact with the artists. The portal offers the forum to bring artists together and promote their professional exchange and synergies. And last but not least, links to the cultural events will recommend you to the cultural agenda sites in the Grand Region and European Union.

Just discovered another view on reality. See the world with different eyes. Gila was able to do so for me. Just read what she states and go, share with your friends probably one of the most exciting personal experience on the web.

"The creative process is a kind of dialogue between myself and the medium. Having worked for years in the language and communication field, there was a moment in my time in Chicago, language changed into visual language. The combination of several art techniques - the traditional ones (in particular drawing and painting) and the digital tool - became my medium. Focusing on color and composition, structures as well as patterns, I am connecting and expanding ideas in a visual way. In my recent work, I add to my pictures a new dimension: Fibers and forms are running through, are multiplied and manipulated to catch the beauty and fascination in these elements. In my photographic work I want to simplify the view of our environment, to show the beauty around, to make feel the fascination and daily personal adventure. So, I am working on new art series connecting and expanding ideas by catching short stories in pictures based on everyday life. My personal engagement in art is to make our environment visible."
